Cookie Sales & SWAPS

We had a great meeting Wednesday! We introduced the girls to a Girl Scout Tradition called SWAPS. The topic of SWAPS kept coming up at leader meetings and I finally had to ask what they were. SWAPS stands for "Special Watchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere" AKA Share With A Pal. SWAPS will play a big part in events and camps in the coming years. The girls make SWAPS and then trade them with other troops/girls.

Cookie sales started yesterday. We still need permission slips from Chloe, Ellie, Ariel, Isabella and Alex. Please get the signed permission slip to Jackie, Sue or I as soon as possible. Reminder: Cookie money is not due from customers until the cookies are delivered. But if you get pre-payments from people, make sure checks are written out to "GSHCC" or Girl Scouts Heart of Central California. It creates a nightmare for the Cookie Manager (Jackie) and the Treasurer (Sue) to have some checks written to Troop 1949, others to Girl Scouts USA, etc. Also when turning in your permission slips, do not separate the triplicate form. We will give you your copy after you turn in money at the end of cookie sales. Initial orders are due to Jackie by January 27th.

Remember to go to http://www.abcsmartcookies.com/ and register your daughter so that she can set a goal and win a "goal setter" patch. For reference you can enter the troop goal as 500 boxes. Once you register, go to Catch Goals to set your box # goal. We had decided to do booth sales this year but it looks like there are less spots for more troops. So we discussed doing a Cookie Yard Sale! More info to come.

I still have two troop crests in my possession (unicorn patch). Please check and see if you got a crest. If you haven't already done so, please send $1.50 with your daughter to pick one up.

We are still waiting to hear if we will get into Brownie Quest. I got an answer back from the council and evidently the waiting list is not first come, first serve, it is done by a lottery. I will have a replacement activity for the girls in the event we do not get in. Stay tuned!
