Our first meeting went great! We were two girls short but had a great
time discussing plans for the year and diving into the sample Junior
books. Each girl went home with a troop folder outlining the 2013 snack
schedule (2014 is forthcoming) as well as uniform, contact and general
information for the year. Once you have reviewed the packet, put it in a
safe place to reference when needed. I will periodically send home
hole punched sheets to insert in the folder (songs, updated calendars,
etc.).
Please mark the calendar with your snack date as soon as
possible. If you need to drop off the snack in the office before
school, feel free to do so, just
let me know it's there. The quickest and best way to get a hold of me
is text (530) 400-6215. The second best way is email.
Our meetings this year will be from 1:30 to 3:
15. The extra fifteen minutes will give us a chance to
slow down snack and clean up the room.
Speaking of room, as
many of you found out Wednesday, we "lost" room G-37 to another group.
I've been hearing that another GS troop swooped in last June and
requested it at the district level. I'm not sure if this is the case or
not. However, we are now assigned to meet in the music room at the end
of the MPR! I've only been in this room during fall festival so I'm
not sure about the table/chair situation but I'm sure we can make it
work. It will also give us an opportunity to spread out outside when
the weather permits.
I don't know about all of you but I am
slightly "burned out" on meetings with Back to School night, strings
information night and my own Girl Scout leader meetings, etc. Work is
ramping up for me as well as I take over more Social Media Marketing
responsibilities at the farm. I've recently launched an Instagram and
Pinterest page
for the farm. September is Farm to Fork month and with that comes
dinners, mixers and events. With that said we do need to have a
parent meeting soon as you will need to purchase uniforms and books
sooner rather than later.
This Sunday, September 15th the Girl Scout shop is bringing The Shop on Wheels to the Davis Girl Scout Cabin from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. I
would recommend you stop in and purchase uniform items to save a trip
out to Sacramento. I can't guarantee they'll have everything you need
(although I did email them a list) but I'm pretty sure they'll have
uniform items and books at least. A full list of uniform and supplies
requirements are in the packets that were sent home and you can find the list here.
So that brings us to the parent meeting. It
will be short
and sweet so if it works for most people to meet before or after
shopping at the cabin on Sunday, that would work for me too. We can
meet out on the picnic benches under the trees at Slide Hill Park.
Please let me know if that works for everyone!
